Join a campaign

A campaign is a themed collection of opportunities from several organizations at once, with a public page of its own: Volunteer Month Hawaiʻi, E Ala E for Earth Day, Give Back December, and whatever else is running.

Campaigns are written by Kanu Hawaii, and organizations ask to join them. You cannot create one, and there is nothing to set up. The Campaigns tab on your dashboard is where both halves happen.

Requesting to join

Open the Campaigns tab

Under Campaigns you can join, every open campaign is one row. There is a search box once there are more than a handful.

Say how you want to take part

Picking a campaign opens a short form. How do you want to take part? is prose that a person at Kanu Hawaii reads when reviewing the request: what you plan to run, what you need, anything you want considered.

Choose whether your opportunities join automatically

Add my published opportunities to this campaign automatically includes the ones you publish later as well. You can turn it off, or opt a single opportunity out, at any time.

Send the request

Your request sits at Awaiting review until somebody decides. Once approved it reads Participating, your organization appears on the campaign’s public roster, and your opportunities come under the banner if you asked for that.

If a request is not accepted, the reviewer’s notes appear on the row. You can apply again later, and doing so reopens the same row rather than adding a second one.

Your opportunities under a campaign

Inside an approved campaign, Your opportunities in this campaign lists what is under the banner and how each got there:

SuggestedPut forward, waiting on Kanu Hawaii to include it.

Remove takes out an opportunity your own enrollment brought in. Anything Kanu Hawaii added by hand stays, and is theirs to remove.

Publishing a new opportunity still runs the campaign’s keyword rules, which can suggest it to a campaign you have not joined. Those go to Kanu Hawaii to accept or not.

Reporting progress

Some campaign goals are counted from the platform: hours, volunteers, signups. Those move by themselves as you confirm attendance, and there is nothing to report.

Other goals cannot be counted from here. Pounds of debris removed, meals packed, trees planted: those show a Report progress form under the campaign, where you enter the quantity and the date it happened.

StatusWhat it means
In reviewFiled, and Kanu Hawaii has not decided yet.
CountedApproved. It is on the public bar.
Not countedNot accepted.

Nothing you report moves the public bar until it is approved, which is what makes a self-reported number safe to put on a public page at all.

Leaving

Leave this campaign ends the membership. It takes with it only the opportunities your enrollment brought in, and leaves anything Kanu Hawaii curated by hand where it is.

Who can do this

Owners and editors. Viewers do not see the Campaigns tab.
