Invite your team
More than one person can run an organization here. Whoever registered it is the owner, and the owner invites everybody else from the Members tab of the organization dashboard.
Inviting somebody
- Open your organization dashboard and go to the Members tab.
- Enter their email address and choose a role.
- Send the invitation. They get a link by email.
- They follow the link, sign in or create an account with that address, and they are in.
An invitation that has not been accepted yet is listed with the pending ones, and can be revoked. Invite the address they will sign in with: the invitation is tied to that email.
What each role can do
| Role | Access |
|---|---|
| Owner | Full access: organization profile, members, needs, volunteers, and reports. |
| Editor | Creates and manages needs, sees volunteer signups, marks attendance, and views reports. |
| Viewer | Read-only: aggregate reports such as hours, volunteer counts and trends, without volunteer personal data. |
Editor is the right default for a colleague who posts opportunities and runs them. Viewer is for somebody who needs the numbers, a board member or a funder, without seeing who signed up.
The difference between the roles is enforced on the data, not by hiding a tab. Giving somebody the viewer role is a real answer to the question of whether they can see volunteer contact details.
Removing somebody
The Members tab removes a member, and a pending invitation can be revoked before it is accepted. An organization always keeps at least one owner, so the last one cannot remove themselves. If the person who registered your organization has left, invite their replacement as an owner first.
Volunteers are not members
Someone signing up for one of your opportunities is a volunteer, and appears on the Volunteers tab. Members are the people who run the organization. Inviting a volunteer as a member would give them access to everybody else’s details, so only invite colleagues.
