Your hours and your profile
Your profile at needs.kanuhawaii.org/profile has five tabs: My RSVPs, My Hours, Saved Needs, My Interests, and Email Preferences.
Where hours come from
Two ways, and the difference matters:
- An organizer confirms you attended. Hours appear by themselves, credited from the shift length, and they include any guests you brought.
- You log them yourself, on an opportunity you signed up for. A logged claim goes to the organization for approval and is not counted until they approve it.
You can also log hours for volunteering done outside the platform, which is how a total stays a true total rather than only the part of your volunteering that happened to be booked here.
Reading the states
| State | What it means |
|---|---|
| Counted | Confirmed by the organizer, or a claim they approved. It is in your total. |
| Awaiting approval | You logged it and the organization has not decided yet. Not counted. |
| Not approved | The organization did not recognise the claim. Not counted, and worth asking them about. |
A claim that is still awaiting approval can be edited or deleted. An approved entry is locked, but you can ask for an adjustment if you stayed an extra hour.
If your hours are wrong
Ask the organization first, using the contact on the opportunity. They are the ones who confirm attendance, so they are the ones who can fix it. Only they know whether you were there.
The other tabs
- Saved Needs. Opportunities you saved while browsing.
- My Interests. Causes and activities you care about, which shape what gets suggested to you.
- Email Preferences. What we are allowed to send you. Changing your mind here is meant to be easy, and using it is better for both of us than marking mail as spam.
